OSCAR'S MUG

This was a gift from Oscar. His son worked on our house and did an amazing job. We love them and their restaurant. Enchiladas suizas. Fantastic.

PRESIDENTIAL MOTORCADE

We got to see the Presidential Motorcade of the Presidente Felipe Calderon as it travelled from Punta Sur back to the ball field. I heard he wants to come back and stay on Paseo Punta Sur!
We also saw his motorcade in Cancun while we where running errands.

DANCING IN THE STREETS

Who has danced on the streets with this man?

This was outside Belmar/Rolandi downtown while chowing down on the bread and olive oil.

HABANERO - the PEPPER of the YUCATAN!!

With apologies to the Kings of Leon - "Your lips are on fire...."

from wikipedia: the habanero chili pepper most likely originated in the Yucatán Peninsula and its coastal regions. Upon its discovery by Hispanics, it was rapidly disseminated to other adequate climate areas of the world, to the point that 18th-century taxonomists mistook China for its place of origin and called it "Capsicum chinense"—the Chinese pepper.[3][4][5]

The chili's name is derived from the name of the Cuban city of La Habana, which is known as Havana in English. Although it is not the place of origin, it was frequently traded there.

Today, the crop is most widely cultivated in the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. Other modern producers include Belize, Panama (anecdotal evidence suggests that the ones grown there are some of the hottest and most flavorful), Costa Rica, and parts of the United States includingTexas, Idaho, and California. While Mexico is the largest consumer of this spicy ingredient, its flavor and aroma have become increasingly popular all over the world.

PUPPIES LOVE PUNTA SUR

Our dogs love their time on Isla. Nothing like a frigate flying overhead to get a Yorkie excited.
