ISLA AERIAL SHOTS

Isla Mujeres and Cancun

Isla Mujeres, Cancun and Isla Contoy

One flight home gave me the perfect photo opp for aerial shots of Isla. Headed to Miami, the direction and lighting were perfect. If you notice closely, you will see Isla Contoy in the background. Notice the "tail" ... the current coming off Punta Sur gives Isla Mujeres her what looks like a tail. I was able to get a few shots of Cuba a few minutes later off the south side of the airplane.

MEGA MOTH

This Moth was so huge he was confused for a Bat. He visited for a few hours and then flew off into the night. Well, actually, he was shooed out the window so the girls would stop screaming.

Golfers!

Something you don't see that often at the Gran Puerto.

The mighty Lefty!

Great Form!

Eating Flan at Qubano

We topped off lunch at the Q with a little Flan.

Christmas Eve Lunch at QUBANO

One of the highlights of a visit to Isla is dining at Qubano. Vivian's Cuban Sandwich's are amazing and the Tostones to die for. For vegans, you have a veggie sandwich and salads. Be sure and get an order of Hungarian potatos, and top it off with a watermelon water.

We had lunch with friends on Christmas Eve on the patio. We ate and laughed for several hours. What a day!

HOW TO CORRECTLY TRANSPORT TEQUILA

This is part of helpful tips and quips on Isla. Many people make the mistake of putting tequila in with all the other groceries, but the correct way is to buckle it up for safety! Enjoy in moderation.

This is one of our favorites - Don Ramon. Available at Wal-Mart in Cancun.

THE LATEST GADGET FOR FILLING YOUR POOL

After much scientific study at major universities across the world, scholars have determined the "holy shell" as the perfect mechanism for helping fill the pool. It is sturdy and durable. In abundant supply on Isla, don't be caught without one. They come in different species, shapes, sizes and colors to fit any pool.

OSPREY IN ISLA

We have a pair of Osprey's that nest in the old zip line tower. I'm told this was damaged in Wilma and fortunately was left. It is often photographed by visitors. The renters next door commented on how great it was to have this in our backyard. There was a line that used to connect that was the perfect frigate resting spot. But alas, it has given way to the elements or put to use elsewhere.

Even though it was a windy rainy day yesterday, the sea was a spectacular turquoise and relatively calm.

RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS AND RAINY DAYS THAT ARE MONDAY

Rain on the Island today. We love the rain and the opportunity to read and nap and nibble without feeling compelled to do some activity.

A great day to rearrange the shell collection.

A more sunny day...
